LETTERS

When I was giving the school tours, myself and other guards used to get letters from the students who visited the Fort.  It was very satisfying to receive these letters and knowing the students were delighted in our tours and visiting the Fort.  I actually remember when I visited the Fort, Andy Carroll was our tour guide!

FESTIVAL OF THE FORT May 1962

There was a festival at the Fort in May of 1962.
I see the smoke stakes from the lead factory.  I remember breathing in the lead and tasting it during the 1970's when I was a guard.

Quite a good crowd.

I'm not sure what was going on here.  Maybe getting water from the well?

Boiling Syrup.

Frontiersmen firing muskets for the crowd.

Log hewing.

Tasting food cooked in the kitchen.

Barrel making.  Pete Milligan, Crouper.

Lt. Governor Keiller MacKay and Col. J.A. McGinnis with the Fort York Guard laying wreath on Monument during Lt. Governor's Investiture, 1961.
John Keiller MacKay was the 19th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, 30 December 1957 to 01 May 1963.
A letter from the Ontario Department of Economics and Development to Mr. George Waters on 20 May 1965.
Along with the contact prints of the pictures they took at Fort York.

Kind of curious on what the Ontario Department of Economics and Development were doing.

It certainly would be interesting.

I guess this Fort York Guard enjoyed his day!

Fort York Artillery

I don't know where this was taken but I believe it would be around 1980.
The white cartouche, makes me believe that it was in the late 1979, or early 1980
I would appreciate any feedback from any Fort York guards.

DEDICATION OF THE BRITISH COLUMBIA FIR FLAG POLE

Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Paulin McGibbon unveils the plaque for the British Columbia Fir Flag Pole, 18 August 1977.
I believe it is Sgt. Ross Pezzak, second from left.
I don't recall the Fort York Guard here.
